Hirose has announced a range of circular connectors with self-aligning elements for blind-mating – where connectors have to be mated without direct visual or hand access.
“HR34P Series panel mount connector guides itself into the correct mating position,” according to the company. “The blind-mating connector is designed for applications where the electrical receptacle is recessed or hidden – commonly used for rack-to-panel connectivity in base stations, industrial machinery and medical equipment.”
A floating screw design offers a degree of play to absorb misalignment when mating – a gap between the panel and the screw enables ±0.5mm float in X and Y directions. The screws are pre-coated with anti-loosening agent aganst vibration and shock impact.
Against inappropriate mating, the housing is keyed.
The connector can handle cables from 20 to 25AWG, up to 3A, up to 200Vac and up to 250Vdc. Operation is over -40 to +105°C.
“These connectors are well suited for modules such as fans that require frequent replacement due to their lifespan,” said Hirose product v-p Pete Lais.
