The SKEDD connector family featuring patented Würth Elektronik technology has a new arrival: REDFIT WR-WSP Crimp SKEDD.
The direct connectors are available for solder-free and tool-free assembly with up to five pins and in five different color codings. They feature current capacity up to 16 A, a 400 V rated voltage, and an operating temperature range -25 to +105°C. The audibly locking reversible connection to the PCB has verified strength: acceleration tested to 10 g. REDFIT Crimps are the ideal alternative to soldered THT jacks.
In the era of compact electronic design, power connectors are often the only THT component among the SMDs on the board. Additional hand soldering or a wave soldering pass for a single component makes the whole manufacturing process more complex and thus more cost-intensive. Furthermore, a classic connector solution requires two components – one on the cable and the other on the PCB. By using SKEDD technology, the number of components is reduced and additional processes eliminated. The REDFIT Crimp SKEDD Connector can be optionally assembled against the direction of component placement without any additional workload. This saves time and costs in production.
Convenient assembly
The patented SKEDD technology developed by Würth Elektronik is safe and convenient to use: The direct crimp connector with integrated reverse polarity protection has active locking with acoustic and haptic feedback. REDFIT crimp connectors are available in black, red, white, yellow and blue, so color coding avoids errors when using multiple connectors. Contact to the power supply is established through the contacted holes in a 1.6 mm thick PCB. The SKEDD connector with the convenient crimp cable assembly can be connected at a later time, for example, when installing the assembly.
REDFIT WR-WSP Crimp SKEDD is now available from stock. Free samples can be ordered directly from the online catalog.
